Remember being in love/infatuated/preoccupied/obsessed with someone/something so much you dreamt about it night and day. You ate, slept and breathed it. It was constantly on your mind, you had to learn everything about it and atempt to be the number one fan or number one collector. You considered yourself the resident expert on the subject. Well the Japanese have a word for this type of person: OTAKU.
What is Otaku?
"In modern Japanese slang, the term otaku refers to an overtly obsessive fan of any one particular theme, topic, or hobby. Common uses are anime otaku (one who sometimes enjoys many days of excessive anime watching with no rest) and manga otaku (a fan of Japanese graphic novels), pasokon otaku (personal computer geeks), gēmu otaku (playing video games), and wota (before referred as "idol otaku") that are extreme fans of idols, heavily promoted singing girls. There are also tetsudō otaku or denshamania (metrophiles) or gunji otaku (military geeks)."-wikipedia
Now anyone that knows me to a closer degree knows that I am obsessed with Morning Musume and the whole Hello! Project realm. Now what I want to talk about is Wotas. More Specifically Mowotas.
What is Wota?
"Wota (ヲタ; oh-tah) is a kind of otaku, but while regular otaku seek out anime figurines and high-tech gizmos, a wota is devoted to female idols — the pop group Morning Musume is particularly notorious for having concentrated amounts of obsessed wota, especially in the case of Miki Fujimoto. To distinguish themselves from otaku, wota chopped off the "-ku" at the end of the word and change the o to wo."-wikipedia
What is Mowota?
"Miki Fujimoto possesses an extensive fan base, which includes a group of people generally deemed "Mowota", an abbreviation of Morning Musume Otaku, who literally worship her. This group, called "Tokai Woters", generally performs a fixed choreography at concerts and, on certain occasions TV. This choreography, carried to the sound of Miki's Romantic Ukare Mode, involves a series of moves accompanied by their chanting "Mikitty!" four times, which is then followed by "Miki-sama! Miki-sama, please punish me!". It is also said that they send her a lot of mail, and Fujimoto often says she enjoys getting "Miki-sama mail"."-wikipedia
While these examples may be a little too extreme for me, I do applaud their loyalty and devotion. :)

Well It's official.... Miki has resigned from MM , Ai is the new leader, Risa is sub leader.
This makes the 3rd memeber of H!P this year to be involved in a scandal which has resulted in the person leaving the company or in Miki's case, MM.

Fujimoto Miki will resign from Morning Musume, effective June 1, 2007.

Fujimoto Miki comment
To all my fans and supporters.
I, as leader of Morning Musume, have the role of a guide to the other members. I've violated one of the promises I made as a member of Morning Musume, and I feel a heavy responsibility. I'm very sorry for all the trouble I've caused with my actions. In this way, I cant continue on as leader, and I took it upon myself to resign from Morning Musume.
I feel deeply apologetic towards the fans that have supported me up to now. I'm really sorry. I'd ask you to please support "Fujimoto Miki" in the future.
Regarding the magazine article released on March 26th about Kago Ai, we have talked to Kago and unfortunately have verified it as true.
The incident regarding smoking that happened one year ago happened at a time when Kago was 17 and we still saw potential in her. We decided thus to have her go back to live with her parents for an unspecified length of time. After one year of reflecting over what had happened, we talked with her again and decided to give her a chance to come back. From January 23rd she returned to Tokyo and was doing office related work at the agency. She showed a strong work ethic over two months but now a second incident has occured and we have thus decided to give up on her comeback. Because she is still a minor we have talked with her family and decided it would be best to dissolve her contract.
We are very sorry that this incident has occured and must take responsibility as management.
From now on, especially with regard to celebrities who are minors, we must have a higher sense of responsibility and reinforce educational measures."
