Remember being in love/infatuated/preoccupied/obsessed with someone/something so much you dreamt about it night and day. You ate, slept and breathed it. It was constantly on your mind, you had to learn everything about it and atempt to be the number one fan or number one collector. You considered yourself the resident expert on the subject. Well the Japanese have a word for this type of person: OTAKU.

What is Otaku?

"In modern Japanese slang, the term otaku refers to an overtly obsessive fan of any one particular theme, topic, or hobby. Common uses are anime otaku (one who sometimes enjoys many days of excessive anime watching with no rest) and manga otaku (a fan of Japanese graphic novels), pasokon otaku (personal computer geeks), gēmu otaku (playing video games), and wota (before referred as "idol otaku") that are extreme fans of idols, heavily promoted singing girls. There are also tetsudō otaku or denshamania (metrophiles) or gunji otaku (military geeks)."-wikipedia

Now anyone that knows me to a closer degree knows that I am obsessed with Morning Musume and the whole Hello! Project realm. Now what I want to talk about is Wotas. More Specifically Mowotas.

What is Wota?

"Wota (ヲタ; oh-tah) is a kind of otaku, but while regular otaku seek out anime figurines and high-tech gizmos, a wota is devoted to female idols — the pop group Morning Musume is particularly notorious for having concentrated amounts of obsessed wota, especially in the case of Miki Fujimoto.
To distinguish themselves from otaku, wota chopped off the "-ku" at the end of the word and change the o to wo."-wikipedia

What is Mowota?

"Miki Fujimoto possesses an extensive fan base, which includes a group of people generally deemed "Mowota", an abbreviation of Morning Musume Otaku, who literally worship her. This group, called "Tokai Woters", generally performs a fixed choreography at concerts and, on certain occasions TV. This choreography, carried to the sound of Miki's Romantic Ukare Mode, involves a series of moves accompanied by their chanting "Mikitty!" four times, which is then followed by "Miki-sama! Miki-sama, please punish me!". It is also said that they send her a lot of mail, and Fujimoto often says she enjoys getting "Miki-sama mail"."-wikipedia

While these examples may be a little too extreme for me, I do applaud their loyalty and devotion. :)

Miki has resigned from MM , Ai is the new leader, Risa is sub leader.

This makes the 3rd memeber of H!P this year to be involved in a scandal which has resulted in the person leaving the company or in Miki's case, MM.

Translation of the official statement:

Thank you for always supporting Hello Project. There is some important news today concerning Morning Musume.

Fujimoto Miki will resign from Morning Musume, effective June 1, 2007.

A report concerning Fujimoto Miki appeared in the weekly magazine "FRIDAY", which went on sale on Friday, May 25, 2007. The facts contained in that article were confirmed by Fujimoto, which was the person in question, and we have discussed this with her two or more times leading up to today. The ideal way to proceed with a group containing a lot of minors was discussed, and there was a proposal from Fujimoto Miki: "I would like to resign as leader of Morning Musume." Our company has acknowledged & accepted this offer.

She will preform as a member of GAM with Matsuura Aya on their current tour, which began last week (5/26), and the tour will continue on schedule. Moreover, please acknowledge that Fujimoto will not be performing in the concert to be held in July, "Hello! Project 2007 Summer 10th Anniversary Daikansha Matsuri ~ Hello Pro Natsu Matsuri~". So Johnson and I went for breakfast and the subject of things we want to accomplish or do before we die came up. Johnsons ranged from the attainable (playing in the WSOP main event) to the hilarious ( Grab someone by the neck through a plane glass window a la Rex Banner in the Simpsons, smack someone in the head with a baguette) to the ridiculous ( Mount and ride a nuclear warhead)... So anyhoo I told him I would come up with my own.. so without further adieu...

My top 10 things to do before I die ( in no particular order)

win a major poker tournament

Participate in a Pokemon themed wedding

knock someone out with a sleeper hold and then shave their head ala Brutus Beefcake circa 1985

Ok so a few of us at work were playing poker with this short deck...it was missing the Ace of hearts and the 10 of clubs. so we took the joker and wrote A of hearts/10 of clubs on it and threw it back into the deck, we found it amusing that there was this "combo card" that could be used for either one or the other. Imagine the possibilities! lets say 2 people get it all in and decide to run the turn and river twice. wouldn't it be awesome to scoop by having each half of the combo card make your hand? or like pocket combo cards and 2 combo cards on the board? Anyways, It got the ball rolling and we decided to create this new hold'em based game where we would throw a few of these "combo cards" into the deck...say like 5 or 6 of them...one could be like the A/10 combo one could be like a 7h/8c or some other weird combo.. ..then we were tossing around the idea of making some weird hybrid game where we would combine poker and the "Pokemon" card game and call it "PokeRmon".... Now, I've never played the Pokemon card game or any kind of card like game such as Magic etc so I'm not sure how this would work, but at least my cousin has a shitload of old Pokemon cards I can bring to work. Should we deal 2 cards and 3 pokemon hole cards? flop 5 regular and 3 pokemon? I dunno... anybody out there played Pokemon? what kind of rules should there be? Any of you other degenerate gamblers are free to post any suggestions!
